In a devastating incident on Tuesday morning, a charter bus carrying students from the Tuscarawas Valley Local School District in eastern Ohio was rear-ended by a semi-truck on Interstate 70 West in Licking County. The accident occurred near the Smoke Road underpass, approximately 26 miles east of Columbus, leaving three people dead and 15 others injured, according to Sean Grady, the Director of Licking County Emergency Management Agency.

The charter bus, with a total of 57 people on board, was en route to an Ohio School Boards Association conference in Columbus. Superintendent Derek Varansky expressed deep concern, stating, “Right now, our focus is on getting in touch with our Tusky Valley families who had loved ones on the bus and providing support to our entire school community.”
